Earlier this year, we reported on the extended deadline for products under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) to obtain the UKCA mark for sale in the UK. However, on September 2nd, the UK Government’s Minister for Building Safety announced that the previously scheduled deadline of June 30th, 2025, for UKCA marking on these construction products has now been rescinded.
This deadline had been critical for ensuring that CPR-regulated products adhered to UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking standards, setting them apart from other goods where the CE mark remained valid in the UK market post-Brexit. The UK government’s emphasis on enforcing UKCA standards for construction-related products by 2025 aimed to uphold the highest safety and performance levels while allowing greater flexibility for other product types.
This regulatory focus on CPR products had prompted an urgent response across the construction industry, aligning with the stringent safety protocols outlined in the Building Safety Act. Companies involved with CPR products were advised to expedite their efforts to achieve UKCA compliance to ensure their products’ continued legality in the UK market by the now-revoked deadline. It was deemed essential to engage promptly with the UKCA marking procedures and begin the certification process.
